The Governor of Borno State, Babagana Zulum, has leveled serious allegations against certain individuals within the Nigerian military and political circles.
He has claimed that some members of the military and politicians are acting as informants and aiding Boko Haram militants.
During a discussion on News Central’s Breakfast Central, the governor shared his thoughts: “We have informants and collaborators embedded within our armed forces, among politicians, and within communities.”
“Our plan is to bolster our intelligence efforts and take decisive action against them.”
“We must eliminate the influence of contract-driven interests. In just six months, we could bring this chaos to an end. There’s no need to politicize the issue of security.”
“Tackling insurgency requires more than just military action; we must address the socio-political and economic aspects of the situation as well.”
“I want to emphasize that purely corrective measures will not suffice in ending this insurgency. Among the more than 300,000 who have turned away from violence, we cannot ignore the chance that a few may revert to their former ways.”
