I am always linked with jobs and in the summer I will have a job, but in this moment I can promise you I do not have a contract with any club. I am not in a position to turn [jobs] down, I am in a position to analyse. I am in a position to be open to any club or national team.”
Mourinho however admitted that he would prefer to continue working in the Premier League: “I have to be honest, if possible I would prefer a club but I must analyse to see what is best for my career and to be back with everything I have”.
“I would prefer [to be in England]. I love the country, I love the football here, my family is very stable and happy. If possible, yes, it would be my first choice,” the 53-year-old added.
The Sun reports that the former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho wants a written assurance from the club that he will succeed Louis Van Gaal next season.
The former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has disclosed to friends and associates he will become Manchester United’s manager at the end of the season, according to reports in several British newspapers
The Portuguese trainer has long been linked with the Old Trafford job, but a public vote of confidence in Louis van Gaal from Sir Alex Ferguson has raised speculation the current manager could continue in his post.
Mourinho reportedly signed a pre-contract agreement with Manchester United earlier this year but that has not stopped Arsenal from considering Mourinho as a possible manager at the Emirates. Meanwhile it is believed the Portuguese would not move to Old trafford after reports emerged that United have put Louis van Gaal in their summer transfer plans.
There are indications that the management of Manchester United may snub Jose Mourinho as their new manager to appoint former team captain, Ryan Giggs, as Louis van Gaal’s successor.
Sunday Mirror reports that Mourinho’s reluctance to bring in younger players has deemed his chances at the club. It is claimed “powerful influences” within the Old Trafford boardroom feel Mourinho “can’t be trusted” to keep faith with their philosophy of promoting talent from the academy.
According to the Guardian, the Portuguese is intent on confirming his next managerial position in one month’s time. United chiefs have secretly Louis van Gaal in recent months, despite it looking certain at the beginning of the year that Mourinho would take over from the Dutchman.
According to the Daily Mail, players and staff alike are said to be concerned about the confrontational approach Mourinho would bring to a stable environment as they are well aware of the problems that engulfed the former Chelsea boss behind the scenes before his messy departure from Stamford Bridge in December, and do not relish the discord and rows that have become synonymous with the temperamental Mourinho.
As a result, Mourinho reportedly wants a firm promise from the United board that the job he has been waiting for since being sacked at Stamford Bridge remains his.
