Unfortunately for fans of the Iron Spider suit and its many handy (pun intended) advantages, the entire scene ended up being cut from the film, and the Iron Spider suit didn’t crop up anywhere else in the final theatrical cut either (to be fair, Spidey didn’t much time in the film Stateside and it might have been a little difficult to pack those mechanical arms into his suitcase). According to Gizmodo, director John Watts explained that the decision was made fairly late in post production, and was ultimately made because they felt it “just ended up not being necessary to the flow of the movie.”
The scene wasn’t revealed in its entirety in the trailer, but Watts explained to the publication what the rest of it entailed. Peter cheekily tells the police he can’t be the next Iron Man because he’s “too busy doing [their] jobs.” He jokingly adds that he was kidding on his way out the door, but only because he’s going on vacation. Peter being the chatterbox he is, there’s naturally much more to the scene than the sassy sneak peek in the trailer revealed.
“It’s part of a montage where Peter is running a bunch of errands that he has to do before he flies to Europe. And the joke was his errands were he had to buy a dual headphone adapter… he had to get one of those European travel plugs, he sold some of his action figures so that he would have enough money… pick up his passport, and he had to take down this extremely dangerous crime family. That’s Spider-Man’s to-do list,” Watts explained of the remainder of the deleted scene.
