Pink noise is commonly used to help people fall asleep, but new research suggests it may interfere with the most restorative stages of sleep. A study from the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine, published in the journal Sleep, found that pink noise reduced REM sleep and disrupted overall sleep recovery.
