Amad Diallo has emerged as one of the most promising young talents at Manchester United over the last few seasons. However, his journey hasn’t always been straightforward.
Fans may recall an incident in October during a Europa League match against Fenerbahce, where Amad appeared visibly upset.
He was seen on the bench with a serious expression as he watched Antony come off the bench in his place.
Amad only stepped onto the pitch in the last minute of the game. That moment conveyed a lot, but he has now opened up about his feelings during that time.
Amad shared (via The Athletic), “In that moment, I felt a bit frustrated because sometimes you feel you deserve to play, and it doesn’t happen.”
It was a challenging period for him. After returning from two loan spells and scoring a remarkable FA Cup winning goal against Liverpool, many expected him to be a regular starter.

However, under Erik ten Hag, playing time was scarce at the beginning of the season.
Transformation of Amad Diallo under Ruben Amorim
Even with this slow start, Amad refrained from placing blame. He actually credited Ten Hag for motivating him to improve.
“Honestly, Erik has been a big help. He provided me with plenty of advice, even during the times I wasn’t on the field… So I kept pushing myself in training,” he mentioned.
Since Ruben Amorim took over in November, Amad’s situation has changed significantly. He has become a vital player, earning regular starting positions. His confidence has soared, reflected in his impressive stats — 10 goals and nine assists.
“It’s because the manager believes in me,” he expressed. “He trusts my abilities, and I strive to justify his faith in me whenever I step on the pitch.”
Injury posed a threat to his progress, but Amad made a quicker recovery than anticipated and is set to start in the Europa League final — marking his third chance at claiming the trophy.
“I truly hope to win this time,” he said. “I’m continually praying for that.”
