This weekend, Arsenal will face Liverpool in a critical Premier League match, as both teams deal with some injury issues.

This marks a significant challenge for Arne Slot’s team, who has exceeded expectations since taking over from Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool earlier this summer.

Liverpool currently leads the Premier League table, having won seven out of eight matches while Arsenal trails by four points, coping with several player absences.

The Sporting News provides a preview of this highly anticipated matchup, including updates on team news and injuries ahead of the game at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, October 27th.

Team Lineups and Injury Updates for Arsenal vs. Liverpool

Arsenal suffered another injury scare when Riccardo Calafiori limped off during their 1-0 victory over Shakhtar Donetsk in the UEFA Champions League.

The defender may have twisted his knee, and manager Mikel Arteta stated the severity of the injury is uncertain.

With Jurrien Timber and captain Martin Odegaard already sidelined, and Bukayo Saka still recovering from a hamstring issue, Arteta has limited options for the matchup against Liverpool. Raheem Sterling and Leandro Trossard may step in on the right wing.

In addition, William Saliba will miss the match due to suspension following his red card in the game against Bournemouth last weekend.

Arsenal’s projected lineup (4-3-3, right to left): Raya (GK) — White, Gabriel, Kiwior, Zinchenko — Rice, Merino, Partey — Sterling, Havertz, Martinelli

Injured: Timber, Odegaard, Calafiori (doubt), Saka (doubt)
Suspended: Saliba

On the other side, Slot has fewer injury concerns to manage, although Diogo Jota missed the Champions League game against Leipzig following an early exit in the previous match against Chelsea due to injury. The severity of Jota’s injury remains unclear.

Liverpool is also dealing with issues regarding right-back Conor Bradley, winger Federico Chiesa, and goalkeeper Alisson, who is out for several weeks due to a hamstring injury.

Following the Chelsea match on Sunday, Andy Robertson and matchwinner Curtis Jones were benched for the UEFA Champions League fixture against RB Leipzig but are expected to return to the lineup.

Liverpool’s projected lineup (4-3-3, right to left): Kelleher (GK) — Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson — Jones, Gravenberch, Szoboszlai — Salah, Nunez, Gakpo

Injured: Elliott, Bradley, Alisson, Chiesa, Jota (doubt)
Suspended: None
