Arsenal midfielder Jorginho might depart the club when his contract ends after the 2024/25 Premier League season.
The experienced Italian player has had a limited role under manager Mikel Arteta this season, starting just twice in the league at the age of 32.
Arteta wanted to keep the seasoned former Chelsea player during the summer amid interest from teams in the Saudi Pro League to benefit from his expertise within the squad.
However, with the midfield being reshaped with the signing of Spanish star Mikel Merino, Arsenal is not expected to offer Jorginho a contract renewal when 2025 begins.
Potential Destinations for Jorginho
According to Turkish sources, including Sabah Spor, Turkish clubs are already preparing to make offers for Jorginho, with Besiktas currently leading the chase.
From early 2025, Jorginho can begin discussions about a free transfer from Arsenal, though he can only officially move once his contract concludes in June.
It is unlikely that Arteta will allow him to leave during the January transfer window; he prefers to maintain squad stability throughout the entire season.
As Arsenal aims to compete in four tournaments during the season’s second half, Jorginho remains a valuable asset for Arteta, even if he is not the first choice compared to Declan Rice, Martin Odegaard, Thomas Partey, or Merino.
With a total of 184 appearances in the Premier League from his time at Chelsea and Arsenal, Jorginho has the potential to reach 200 games in 2025 if his playing time increases.
