Details of Lamine Yamal’s Father’s Stabbing Incident
La Vanguardia reported on August 14 that Mounir Nasraoui was attacked in a car park located in Mataro, a town near Barcelona.
Nasraoui was swiftly taken to a hospital in Badalona, where he was listed in a serious condition. The Mossos, the police force of Catalonia, have initiated an investigation into the incident.
By August 15, reports indicated that three individuals had been apprehended in connection to the assault, leaving Nasraoui with two stab wounds. A fourth person linked to the incident was later taken into custody, as reported by Sport.
In parallel, Sport also shared that Nasraoui’s condition has stabilized in the hospital and that he is expected to make a recovery in a designated ward. Lamine Yamal communicated with his father via phone and decided not to go to the hospital to avoid attracting media attention. He later joined Barcelona’s first-team training session and received support from his teammates and club officials.
Motive Behind the Attack on Lamine Yamal’s Father
Initial information points to a previous dispute between Nasraoui and a small group of men possibly triggering the assault.
Footage circulating on social media depicts Nasraoui engaged in a disagreement with several individuals on a residential street. A separate video suggests police intervention at the scene, with Nasraoui explaining to officers that he was physically attacked during the altercation.
As of now, the Mossos have not issued a formal statement regarding the incident.
