Chelsea Set to Make Big Decision on Ben Chilwell’s Future This January

In the upcoming January transfer window, Chelsea is set to continue offloading squad members, with Ben Chilwell being the latest player rumored to be leaving the club.

Prior to the 2024/25 season, Chelsea let go of several prominent players and made additional transactions on transfer deadline day, all while trying to achieve financial stability.

Enzo Maresca, the team’s coach, has been decisive about parts of the squad that do not align with his strategies at Stamford Bridge, leading to Chilwell’s reduced role as the season began.

The English player has not participated in any Premier League matches yet, and Maresca currently prefers Marc Cucurella as the left-back option.

Chilwell was rumored to be moving clubs during the summer transfer period, but ultimately, no deal was made. His situation will be reevaluated at the beginning of 2025.

According to the Daily Mirror, Chelsea is open to receiving offers for the 27-year-old player as Maresca looks to reduce the size of his squad.

There may be renewed interest from teams in the Turkish Super Lig, but Chilwell prefers to stay in the Premier League if an offer comes his way, considering his previous experience with Leicester City.

Maresca has expressed regret over his earlier attempts to transfer Chilwell in August, stating that the player will have opportunities to play soon, though it appears that his future will likely be elsewhere from West London for now.
