Crystal Palace is eager to secure a loan deal for Chelsea’s Mykhailo Mudryk in the upcoming January transfer window, according to reports.
After being acquired at a high price by Chelsea in 2023, Mudryk has encountered difficulties in his adaptation to the English Premier League.
According to Steve Kay from Football Transfers, Crystal Palace is interested in providing the Ukrainian player an opportunity to regain his form through consistent playing time, while easing the pressures associated with a high-profile team.
Since the departure of Wilfried Zaha to Galatasaray in 2023, Palace has been searching for a replacement in their attack. Additionally, they need to fill the gap left by Michael Olise, who recently moved to Bayern Munich.
This potential transfer would likely ensure that Mudryk receives more playing time, as he currently faces stiff competition from players like Pedro Neto, Noni Madueke, and Jadon Sancho in Enzo Maresca’s squad.
Kay indicates that the main issue to resolve is Mudryk’s salary, reported to be £100,000 ($126,560) per week, which may require a wage-sharing agreement.
With Palace aiming to enhance their attacking strength and Chelsea looking for a way to boost Mudryk’s chances of regular play, this transfer could be beneficial for both clubs if it goes through.
