Cristiano Ronaldo captured everyone’s attention once again, but this time it was for a touching display of emotion rather than just his playing abilities.

The Al-Nassr forward paid tribute after netting the decisive goal in a 2-1 triumph over Al-Rayyan during the AFC Champions League match on Monday night.

This poignant moment coincided with what would have been his father’s birthday.

Ronaldo’s remarks after Al-Nassr victory

Following his impressive goal, Ronaldo looked to the heavens in a heartfelt tribute to his father.

“This goal feels special… I wish my father was here today since it’s his birthday,” Ronaldo expressed after the match, highlighting the deep emotions that even sports legends carry with them.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner had missed Al-Nassr’s previous 1-1 draw against Al-Shorta from Iraq due to illness. In the recent match, an earlier goal by Ronaldo was ruled offside, but with just 14 minutes remaining, he delivered a stunning shot into the top corner to secure the victory in Riyadh.

Sadio Mane, previously of Liverpool, enabled Al-Nassr to take the lead just before halftime with a precise header. Although Ronaldo’s goal seemed to have sealed the match, Al-Rayyan managed to score late on through Roger Guedes.

Despite the increased pressure towards the end, Al-Nassr maintained their lead as they pursue their first Asian title.

At 39 years old, Ronaldo shows no signs of waning. His goal against Al-Rayyan was his seventh in eight matches this season, proving that for CR7, age is merely a number. As Al-Nassr aims for success in both national and international competitions, their captain continues to inspire.

Ronaldo is set to return to the pitch this Saturday against Al-Orobah in the Saudi Pro League. With talks of a contract extension heating up, it appears Ronaldo is eager to keep dazzling fans in Saudi Arabia.
