Once again, Arsenal faces setbacks during the international break as forward Gabriel Martinelli has suffered a calf injury while playing for Brazil.
Just as Gunners supporters began to see Gabi regain his form, he is now uncertain for the upcoming Premier League match against Bournemouth.
The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) reported, “Gabriel Martinelli expressed discomfort in his right calf and underwent an MRI last night, revealing a minor area of muscle edema.”
While it might not seem severe, it’s enough to create concern among Arsenal fans.
This isn’t the first instance this season where the Gunners have contended with injury issues stemming from international play.
Injury Overview for Arsenal: Saka, Martinelli, Havertz, and More
Martinelli’s injury is particularly unfortunate as Arsenal is managing injuries to several other crucial players, including Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka.
Saka had to leave the England team early due to an injury in their match against Greece, further adding to the list of players currently in recovery at London Colney.
Although Mikel Arteta’s squad has kicked off the season strongly, these injuries could pose a significant hurdle.
Losing Martinelli, who’s recently found his rhythm with two goals and two assists in his last five games, would be a significant setback, especially with the team’s renewed optimism.
Former Premier League player Darren Bent, however, remains hopeful about Martinelli’s prospects.
“Confidence is crucial in football,” Bent remarked to talkSPORT. “You can witness his growing confidence. I believe he will be performing at a high level by Christmas.”
For the moment, Arsenal fans are left anxiously hoping that Martinelli’s situation is just a minor setback.
