Liverpool Players Unite in Praise Following Impressive Victory Against Manchester City

Liverpool stars are all saying the same thing after dominant win over Man City image

Liverpool secured a convincing 2-0 victory against Manchester City on Saturday, extending their lead to nine points over Arsenal at the Premier League’s summit.

Currently, they sit 11 points ahead of City, who seem to be struggling and could have faced an even heavier defeat at Anfield. Cody Gakpo put Liverpool ahead, with Mohamed Salah adding a second from the penalty spot.

However, Arne Slot’s squad is not becoming complacent.

“Things are going well. We’re playing well as a team, which is great. Yet, we all know the season is far from finished. Staying concentrated is crucial,” Gakpo shared with BBC Sport after scoring his eighth goal in all competitions, following his midweek strike against Real Madrid.

“This has been a significant week for us, winning all three matches. I wouldn’t say Man City are lacking confidence, but they are not performing at their best. They demonstrated their quality on the ball at times today.”

“We need to recover properly, get good rest, and train diligently. This approach is working so far, and we must continue doing it to stay sharp.

The next week features challenging away games against Newcastle United and local rivals, and Joe Gomez, who stepped in effectively for the injured Ibrahima Konate at center-back, echoed Gakpo’s thoughts.

“If someone had told us at the beginning of the season that we would be in this position, we would have been thrilled,” the England defender stated on BBC Radio 5 Live.

“But right now, it means little. If we don’t end the season with the trophy, it will feel like a big opportunity wasted.

“The Premier League is relentless, and we have tough matches ahead.”
