In remarks following the farewell event, De Bruyne expressed to Matchday Live presenter Natalie Pike that the statue symbolizes him as a permanent part of the club.

“It signifies that I will always remain a part of the club. Whenever I visit with family and friends, I will see myself here, so I will always be around.”

Since joining the Etihad in 2015, De Bruyne has achieved 108 goals and 177 assists across 421 appearances. With 19 significant trophies in a decade at City, he leaves as a club legend.

De Bruyne’s next steps are yet to be determined, as he considers his options for playing at least another year while also preparing to lead Belgium in the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup next summer.
