Manchester United is allegedly gearing up to enhance their attacking lineup by acquiring a new striker in the upcoming January transfer window.
Following a sluggish performance in the Premier League, with only 13 goals across 12 games, head coach Ruben Amorim is actively seeking ways to improve the squad’s performance.
According to reports from the Daily Mail, four potential striker candidates have been identified by the club.
Amorim is eager to reshape the team’s dynamics while adhering to his tactical approach.
Potential Striker Targets for January
A top candidate on their radar is Omar Marmoush from Eintracht Frankfurt. The Egyptian striker has been impressive, netting 11 goals in just 11 Bundesliga matches.
His performance places him as the second-highest goal scorer in the league, only behind Harry Kane.
Marmoush is expected to come with a price of around £50 million, positioning him as a feasible option.
Another name in consideration is Victor Osimhen, currently on loan at Galatasaray.
The Napoli striker has a release clause of £63 million and has made a notable impact with eight goals in 10 matches, including two goals against Tottenham in the Europa League.
Also on United’s list are Randal Kolo Muani, who is currently not getting ample playing time at PSG, and Bayer Leverkusen’s Victor Boniface.
Kolo Muani could be available for both loan or permanent transfer, whereas Boniface’s steep valuation could hinder a potential deal.
The Need for a Striker
There’s increasing urgency for United to secure a dependable goal-scorer, given their current struggles in attack.
New signing Rasmus Hojlund has only scored twice due to injury setbacks, and Joshua Zirkzee has managed only a single goal over 18 games.
Why Gyokeres Isn’t an Option for United
Despite Viktor Gyokeres’ successful stint under Amorim at Sporting, the coach has ruled out the prospect of pursuing him, prompting United to seek alternatives as they aim for a top-four league finish.
