Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has discussed the team’s ongoing struggles following their 1-1 draw against Chelsea in the Premier League.
The match at Stamford Bridge extended Arsenal’s winless streak in the league to four games, marking a troubling period throughout all competitions.
Gabriel Martinelli put Arsenal ahead, but Pedro Neto’s first Premier League goal for Chelsea ensured the match ended in a stalemate.
In his analysis of the situation, Arteta expressed concern over the team’s inability to score, as they had not found the back of the net in their previous two matches before the draw.
Latest statistics show that Arsenal’s chances of winning the title have fallen below 5%, with Liverpool enjoying a five-point lead as the November international break approaches. Arteta acknowledged that the lack of finishing is a significant issue for his squad.
“The way the team responded was impressive; they showed a great desire to win and took risks. However, we failed to secure the winning goal,” he stated.
“We were quite unlucky. We’ve played well against one of Europe’s top teams, yet the results aren’t reflecting that. This is what we need to improve.”
Arteta highlighted Arsenal’s struggles with scoring, as they have netted only 18 goals in 11 matches, trailing behind Liverpool, Manchester City, and Chelsea.
Most of Arteta’s players will be away on international duty for the last FIFA window of 2024, with Arsenal scheduled to play at home against Nottingham Forest on November 23.
