Disappointing Home Loss for Tottenham
Tottenham’s manager, Ange Postecoglou, expressed no justifications following his team’s 2-1 defeat against Ipswich Town in the Premier League.
It was a joyous day for Ipswich, managing their first league victory this season under coach Kieran McKenna, while Postecoglou felt frustration at the end of the match.
Despite Rodrigo Bentancur’s goal in the second half that made the match competitive, Tottenham struggled from the outset, conceding early goals from Sammie Szmodics and Liam Delap.
The Tottenham team entered this fixture after a loss in the UEFA Europa League to Galatasaray during the week, and they did not manage to bounce back at home.
This defeat mirrors their last match before the October international break against Brighton & Hove Albion, marking similar results leading into the November window.
In the recent five Premier League outings, Postecoglou has only secured two wins, and he emphasized that he alone is responsible for the team’s performance in his post-match remarks.
“It’s very disappointing. We started off slow and let ourselves fall behind. We had chances in the second half but didn’t capitalize enough to change the outcome,” he commented.
“Ultimately, this falls on me. The players aren’t delivering consistent performances, and I need to work on that. As the head coach, I accept accountability.”
Postecoglou mentioned he will gather his squad after the international break to prepare for the upcoming clash against Manchester City, the reigning champions, on November 23.
