PSG Aims to Snag Serie A Star as Summer’s First Signing

PSG and Premier League giants battle for Portugal

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) is on the verge of finalizing its first signing of the summer as 18-year-old goalkeeper Renato Marin prepares to make a move from AS Roma on a free transfer.

The Italian-Brazilian keeper hails from Sao Paulo and currently competes internationally for Italy at the under-19 level. He is expected to join PSG once his contract with Roma expires on June 30.

As reported by L’Equipe, Marin has signed a five-year contract with the Ligue 1 giants. However, due to a request from Roma, he will not be released early, meaning he won’t participate in PSG’s Club World Cup roster.

Marin became part of Roma’s youth academy in 2022 and quickly gained recognition as one of the brightest young goalkeeping talents in Italian football.

Rom’s loss will be significant as they had aimed to keep him on past his current deal.

Impact of Renato Marin’s Addition for PSG

Bringing Renato Marin on board will escalate the competition in PSG’s goalkeeping department. He will be the fifth senior goalkeeper, intensifying an already competitive atmosphere.

His joining raises new questions about Arnau Tenas’s position, as he has played only twice this season in a low-stakes league match and a Coupe de France game.

With experienced Gianluigi Donnarumma and new addition Matvey Safonov from Krasnodar, it’s clear that the competition for game time will heat up.
