Real Madrid Reveals New Price for Arsenal’s Discarded Target

Real Madrid set fresh price tag on

Arsenal is likely to secure second place in the Premier League for the third year running. The mounting expectations on manager Mikel Arteta are becoming intense, prompting him to seek significant changes during the upcoming summer transfer window.

The Gunners are intent on acquiring forwards who can help share the scoring responsibilities and enhance the quality of the squad.

Recent insights from Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg indicate that Arsenal is keeping an eye on Real Madrid player Rodrygo Goes.

The Brazilian winger is reportedly feeling discontent at Madrid, feeling overlooked since Kylian Mbappe’s arrival.

Rodrygo has found himself further down the pecking order, with stars like Mbappe, Jude Bellingham, and Vinicius Jr. grabbing most of the attention. Consequently, he may consider departing the club this summer.

Additionally, reports suggest that Los Blancos are interested in Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams, potentially signaling the end of Rodrygo’s time in Madrid.

Spanish reports from Cadena SER claim that Real Madrid has placed an €80 million (£67.5m) valuation on Rodrygo. Currently, two Premier League teams are reportedly pursuing the Brazilian.

Current Status of Arsenal’s Interest in Rodrygo

The Gunners find themselves in a challenging situation. While they initially showed interest in Williams, Real Madrid’s involvement has shifted their focus towards enticing Rodrygo away from Santiago Bernabeu.

Despite this, they recognize that it would require a considerable financial outlay, but strengthening this area is essential to compete with teams like Liverpool and Manchester City for the Premier League title.

As it stands, the North London club is investigating the possibility of acquiring the 24-year-old.

Rodrygo has recorded 13 goals and nine assists over 50 matches for the club this season, which is commendable considering the competitive forward lineup he is part of.

His contract extends until 2028, meaning Los Blancos are not in a rush to sell him.

The 24-year-old made the move to Real Madrid from Santos for €45m (£39.3m) in 2018, and since then has collected 13 trophies with the club, including three La Liga titles and two Champions League trophies.

With attributes like versatility, speed, and excellent dribbling skills, he could seamlessly integrate into Arteta’s tactical setup.
