Arsenal faced their second red card in the Premier League this season as Leandro Trossard was sent off during the match against Manchester City.
The Gunners were aiming for their first EPL victory at the Etihad Stadium under Mikel Arteta, but Trossard’s dismissal shortly before halftime complicated their effort.
In a heated encounter, Trossard received his second yellow card from referee Michael Oliver under contentious circumstances.
Reason for Trossard’s Dismissal at Man City
Trossard’s expulsion brings back memories for Arsenal supporters, recalling Declan Rice’s red card in their 1-1 draw with Brighton & Hove Albion back in August.
Rice received his second yellow for deliberately hindering a quick free-kick, which, according to the stricter rules implemented this season, leads to an automatic caution. Trossard faced a similar consequence.
After a foul on Bernardo Silva, Trossard’s action carried him forward, and he kicked the ball away after Oliver called a foul.
Manchester City’s players quickly called for a second card while Arsenal argued Trossard’s case.
At halftime, the Premier League issued a statement confirming that Trossard received the card for ‘delaying the restart’.

On the other hand, pundits on Sky Sports had a different perspective. Former Premier League champion Roy Keane noted that Trossard left the referee with few options, while Doku was fortunate not to be penalized.
“If he can’t pass to Rice, he shouldn’t be playing football!”
