Liverpool recently had an open training session at Lincoln Financial Field with a massive turnout of over 1,000 fans. Diogo Jota was back in training with the squad in Pittsburgh, but Curtis Jones was notably absent due to an injury.
Jones, who started against Real Betis, had to leave the pitch after just 30 minutes due to an injury.
Manager Arne Slot commented on Jones’ situation, stating, “Maybe he could have continued playing, but it was clear he wasn’t at 100 per cent. In a friendly match, with many more games lined up on our tour, it’s best to take him off. We hope for a swift recovery and to see him back in action soon.”
Andy Robertson also missed the training session as he continues to manage his fitness during the preseason. He will not be available for upcoming matches against Arsenal and Manchester United.
Slot mentioned, “He isn’t fully fit yet, but we anticipate his readiness by the end of the tour or shortly after. He sustained a minor injury during the Euros and has been recovering since. His complete return is expected once the tour concludes.”
Teenage midfielder James McConnell, Ben Doak, and Trey Nyoni were also sidelined from training due to various minor issues, as per reports from The Athletic. Slot is taking a cautious approach to not overwork the young players.
Meanwhile, Jayden Danns and Bobby Clark are back in Merseyside, working on their recoveries from injuries at the AXA Melwood Training Centre. Clark, in particular, has been dealing with a back problem since the last season.
