During Al Nassr’s final match of the season, the 39-year-old Portuguese striker netted his 34th and 35th goals, surpassing the previous record of 34 goals held by Moroccan player Abderrazak Hamdallah in the 2018-19 season.

Following the game, Ronaldo took to Twitter to express his pride, stating, “I don’t follow the records, the records follow me.”

This statement underscores his unwavering dedication and love for the game, as he continues to strive for excellence.

The game itself was an exciting one, with Ronaldo scoring in first-half stoppage time and again in the 69th minute with a header. Al Nassr went on to defeat Al Ittihad 4-2 at home on Monday, capping off a successful season.

Although Al Nassr were already assured of a second-placed finish, coming a distant 14 points behind champions Al Hilal, Ronaldo’s record-breaking performance was a fitting end to the season.

His move to Riyadh-based Al Nassr in December 2022 marked the start of an influx of overseas players to the Saudi league on lucrative contracts.

Ronaldo’s impressive career has seen him lead Portugal to victory at the 2016 Euros, and he has been selected for the squad for this year’s edition in Germany next month – his 11th international tournament. With 206 appearances and a record 128 goals, he is the most capped player in men’s international football.

This latest achievement is a testament to Ronaldo’s enduring talent and dedication, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for this football legend.
