She revealed that these fans often create a rivalry between her and every emerging female artist, suggesting that they are aiming to dethrone her.
In response, the talented actress of ‘Water & Garri’ stated that she would rather make friends with these new female artists, as she firmly believes that music should not be seen as a competition.
These remarks were made by Tiwa during a recent interview with BET.
She said, “Fans always try to pit me against other female artists. Any new female artist that comes up, they would be like, ‘Yo, she is coming to take her throne.’
“And I would go out of my way to make friends with them [new female artists] because it is not a competition. The real competition are the male artists. I was happy that Tyla, a female artists won the maiden Best African Music Performance category at the Grammys over the male nominees.”
