A man identified as Hamisu Mamuda, has been apprehended during an attempt to smuggle 12 parcels of dried leaves suspected to be Indian Hemp into Kurmawa Correctional Centre in Kano State.
Spokesperson of the State Police Command, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, who disclosed this in a statement on Monday, April 29, 2024, said the 52-year-old suspect attempted to smuggle in the drugs with the intent to sell them to inmates.
“On 27th April 2024, personnel of the Nigeria Correctional Service attached to Kurmawa Correctional Centre arrested one Hamisu Mamuda, ‘m’, aged 52 years of Samegu Quarters, Kumbotso LGA, Kano State in possession of twelve (12) Nylon bags of dried Leaves suspected to be Indian Hemp wrapped in his jacket in an attempt to smuggle it into Kurmawa Correctional Centre with intent to sell it to inmates,” the statement read.
“The suspect also confessed to the crime and is currently cooling his feet at the Command’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for discreet investigation
“At the completion of investigation the suspect will be charged to court.”
