A journalist named Ayoola Babalola, who was apprehended during the protests against bad governance in Nigeria in Abuja, has been set free by the Nigeria Police Force, NPF.
The 25-year-old journalist was taken into custody on Saturday and held at Wuye Police Station under the Federal Capital Territory Police Command.
Babalola regained his freedom around 3 pm on Sunday following his arrest the previous day.
“Yes, I have been released. I was freed around 3 pm today (Sunday). The detention lasted for over 24 hours, but I’m back home now.
“I am thankful to all who raised their voices advocating for my release,” he informed SaharaReporters.
A Civil Society organization, Take-It-Back Movement, had issued a statement confirming Babalola’s arrest and called for the journalist’s immediate release.
