The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, has assigned the Homicide unit of the FCID in Abuja to investigate the killing of Qoyum Abdulyekeen Ishola, a student from Kwara State Polytechnic. The tragic incident occurred during a protest against the recent rise in petrol prices on September 4, 2024.
The police have identified three officers involved in the incident: Inspector Abiodun Kayode, Inspector James Emmanuel, and Sergeant Oni Philip, all from the Kwara State Command’s Department of Operations. These officers are currently in custody as part of the investigation.
The IGP expressed his sorrow over the loss of life and extended his heartfelt condolences to Ishola’s family, friends, and peers. He recognized the deep sense of loss experienced by the community and assured the public that justice will be pursued rigorously.
