On the rainy evening of September 21, 2024, Vo Cao Ky Duyen was crowned as Miss Tourism Vietnam Global 2024 in Hai Phong. The event showcased her ability to shine despite the adverse weather conditions.
The grand finale, which focused on “Cultural Heritage Identity,” began smoothly but was interrupted by heavy rain during a performance by rapper Double2T about an hour into the show. Nevertheless, the pageant proceeded, with contestants and judges alike using umbrellas, creating a unique and memorable visual in the history of Vietnamese pageantry.
With umbrellas in hand, the participants continued with various segments including swimwear and evening gowns, as well as the question-and-answer phase. This unusual weather fostered a spirit of determination and elegance, with the event broadcasted live across the nation. The judging panel, featuring notable figures like People’s Artist Le Khanh, remained resilient despite the rain as they assessed the performers.
Among the contestants, Vo Cao Ky Duyen, recognized as contestant number 001, particularly impressed the judges with her poise. At 19 years old and standing 1.75m tall with measurements of 84-60-97cm, she stood out in the competition.
The announcement of Ky Duyen as the winner was quite special, with the rain cascading down as she received her crown. Do Ha Trang, designated as contestant number 099, was crowned 1st runner-up, while Pham Hoang Thu Uyen (contestant number 100) earned the title of 2nd runner-up.
As part of her rewards, Vo Cao Ky Duyen received a luxurious car valued at 3.5 billion VND and will go on to represent Vietnam at the Miss Supranational 2025 pageant. The 1st runner-up, Do Ha Trang, was awarded prizes worth 300 million VND and will participate in The Miss Globe 2024, whereas 2nd runner-up Pham Hoang Thu Uyen received 200 million VND and will compete in Miss Tourism World 2024.
