Arsenal is interested in acquiring Lille and Canadian striker Jonathan David during the upcoming January transfer window.

David has been frequently associated with possible moves away from France, with the Premier League and Serie A appearing to be his preferred leagues.

The 24-year-old has made a significant impact, scoring 26 goals across all competitions in each of the last two full seasons at Lille, and he continues his scoring form into the 2024/25 season.

His decisive penalty against Real Madrid recently ended their impressive 53-match unbeaten run in both La Liga and the UEFA Champions League, securing a 1-0 victory for Lille.

Despite Tottenham’s long-standing interest in David, Arsenal is set to initiate their pursuit in early 2025, according to Football Insider.

The Gunners are optimistic about overcoming interest from Italian clubs, although any potential transfer could hinge on Gabriel Jesus’ situation at Arsenal after a challenging start to the new season.

Reports suggest that Jesus may seek a transfer in January due to his limited playing time, which could open the door for Arsenal to use the proceeds from his sale to invest in David.

Contract Situation and Transfer Valuation for Jonathan David

Olivier Letang, the president of Lille, has indicated that the club is open to selling David, who is currently in the final year of his contract. A transfer fee of around £25m ($32m) has been speculated as a possible price tag.

This amount may decrease significantly by 50% in January, as Lille aims to secure a financial return before his contract expires in June.
