Tragic Attack in Benue State
A tragic incident occurred in the Agatu Local Government Area of Benue State, where armed assailants fatally shot a man and kidnapped his daughter along with two teenagers.
Reports indicate that the victim, John Ajaka, was tending to his farm when he was attacked. His daughter, Owakoyi John, and two other youths were taken by the attackers.
John Ajaka was from Ogwule Ankpa Village in the Ogwule Ogbaulu Ward and was violently killed during the assault.
The Executive Chairman of the Agatu Local Government Council, James Melvin Ejeh, confirmed the event which took place on a Tuesday, labeling it as barbaric and inhumane.
Ejeh promised that law enforcement is actively pursuing the attackers and emphasized that justice would be served. He reassured the community of Ogwule and Agatu about their safety.
He pledged that the local authorities are closing in on these criminals and expressed confidence that the kidnapped individuals would be safely returned.
In his address, Ejeh urged residents to stay calm and peaceful, advising against taking matters into their own hands despite the distressing nature of the events.
He reiterated that the government is implementing thorough strategies to address ongoing security challenges.
