On Friday, November 25, 2024, Sanusi’s eldest son, currently a Deputy Superintendent of Police, will be honored with the title Ciroman of Kano, alongside nine other individuals.

An important ceremony is set to take place where Muhammadu Sanusi II, the 16th Emir of Kano, will officially grant the Ciroman of Kano title to his firstborn son. This title signifies the role of crown prince or heir.

The Ciroman title is deeply rooted in the culture and politics of the Kano Emirate, denoting both lineage rights and the obligation to manage certain regions.

The late Ambassador Aminu Sanusi, the Emir’s father, previously held this title until his death in the 1990s.

The last titleholder before this was Alhaji Nasiru Ado Bayero, who became the Emir of Bichi in 2020 but was later removed by the Kano State government after four years of reigning.

On the same day, Sanusi’s son will be among ten new recipients of honors. Other awardees include Mahmud Aminu Yusufu, the newly appointed Mai Unguwar Mundubawa; Dr. Abubakar Sanusi Usman Shehu II, named Dan Galadiman Kano; and Alhaji Abubakar Aminu Sanusi (Wambai), who will serve as Dan Madami.

Others receiving titles include Arch. Ali Muktar, Sa’in Kano; Sarki Yusuf Bayero ‘Yan Daka; Abdullahi Idris Bayero, Fagacin Kano; Ado Abdullahi Aminu, Kaigaman Kano; Idris Sanusi, Sarkin Sullubawa; Mansur Isa Bayero, Sarkin Kudu; and Abdullahi Sarki Mohammed, Sarkin Yamma.
