On October 16, Liam Payne, an artist and ex-member of One Direction, tragically lost his life after an accident at the CasaSur hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Nearly three weeks later, his father, Geoff, traveled to Argentina to initiate the process of bringing his son’s remains back to the UK. Upon his arrival on October 19, Geoff witnessed heartfelt tributes from fans, including an altar established outside the hotel. He paused to read the messages left for Liam and expressed gratitude to everyone for their kindness.
After twenty days, Geoff was finally able to return to the UK with Liam’s body.
Geoff’s Challenging Journey to Bring His Son Home
According to TeleShow, Geoff Payne took a British Airways flight at 1:30 p.m. from Aeroparque Internacional Jorge Newbery on November 6.
The repatriation was not without its challenges; Liam’s body had to be moved to the British Cemetery for embalming. After several days and various procedures, Geoff finally arranged for the coffin to be transported to the airport.
Arriving at the airport by 11 a.m., he was accompanied by security, spending time in a VIP lounge while awaiting his departure.
The coffin was covered in plastic to ensure its safety during the flight and placed in the cargo hold.
Customs conducted checks on the coffin, and a demonstration by Intercargo workers led to a slight delay in the flight. Furthermore, high temperatures caused the runway to be shrouded in mist.
Arrival of Liam Payne’s Remains in Europe
On Wednesday night, Geoff is expected to arrive back in the UK with Liam’s remains, allowing family and friends to offer their farewells. While the funeral date has yet to be announced, it is anticipated to be a private affair attended only by close family and friends.
