Lamine Yamal’s Injury: A Setback for Spain’s Young Talent

Lamine Yamal injury update: Barcelona teenage star out of Spain

Barcelona’s impressive run in both domestic and European competitions faced a setback recently.

The team, led by Hansi Flick, currently sits at the top of La Liga and is making good progress in the UEFA Champions League, celebrating significant victories against Bayern Munich and their local rivals, Real Madrid.

However, they suffered a 1-0 loss against Real Sociedad on Sunday, with Sheraldo Becker netting the decisive goal at the Anoeta stadium.

Missing from the lineup was 17-year-old winger Lamine Yamal, who was also absent during a previous 4-2 defeat to Osasuna in late September.

Yamal, who had an ankle injury this past weekend, has been a crucial part of the team, contributing to an undefeated streak with 10 wins in La Liga when he plays as a starter.

This raises concerns about the duration of his injury and its potential impact on both Barcelona and the Spanish national team.

Update on Lamine Yamal’s Injury

On Monday, November 11, Barcelona released a statement indicating that Lamine Yamal has sustained a grade 1 high right ankle sprain.

He is anticipated to be unavailable for two to three weeks.

As a result, Spain will feel the absence of Yamal significantly. Since the Euro 2024 triumph, coach Luis de la Fuente’s squad has already faced injuries to key players like Rodri, Dani Carvajal, and Dani Olmo.

Nevertheless, Spain holds the top position in their UEFA Nations League Group 4A, accumulating 10 points over four matches, highlighting the talent available to De la Fuente.

Lamine Yamal will be absent for the match against Denmark on November 15 and the following home game against Switzerland on November 18.

If his recovery aligns with the early part of the estimated time frame, he may return for the La Liga clash against Celta Vigo on November 23, although he remains uncertain for that match and future fixtures against Stade Brestois and Las Palmas.
