Toke Makinwa, a well-known actress from Nollywood, has shared her wish to find love again and remarry.
At 40 years old, she views marriage as a wonderful institution, despite its difficulties.
During a podcast conversation with Madame Joyce, a British-Nigerian media personality, she elaborated on her feelings.
She stated, “There is a common misconception that I dislike men or that I’m a feminist who speaks negatively about them. I’ve been married once, and I believe marriage is truly beautiful.
“I liken marriage to the dynamic of siblings. When your siblings visit, the first days are filled with joy. You enjoy time together, wearing matching pajamas and reminiscing. But by the third day, it can feel overwhelming, leading to thoughts like, ‘Why is my door being slammed? Who took my shoes? When are you heading back? I need my space.’ That’s my perspective on it.
“There were moments when I would eagerly return home to share my day’s experiences with my ex-husband. Conversely, there were days I’d wake up thinking, ‘Why would God allow me to marry this man? This isn’t living; it feels more like a nightmare.’ It didn’t last many years ago, but I still appreciate the concept of marriage. I genuinely desire to marry again.
“It hasn’t happened yet, but I’m keeping it open. I’m just being patient, possibly waiting for the right time as per God’s plan. When that time comes, I hope to still look good [laughs].”
Toke was previously married to entrepreneur Maje Ayida. They wed in 2014, but their marriage ended in 2017.
Recently, rumors surfaced about her marrying her longtime friend, Farouk Umar, but she quickly dismissed these claims, clarifying that they are merely close friends and that the supposed wedding was actually a thanksgiving celebration.
