Arteta Seeks to Turn Arsenal’s Fortunes Around

Mikel Arteta is determined to rejuvenate Arsenal’s campaign as they return from the international hiatus.

The Gunners concluded their November matches with a 1-1 draw against Chelsea, and they have not secured a league victory in their last four outings.

This decline in performance has raised doubts about their title aspirations for 2025, especially with Liverpool holding a five-point lead over Manchester City at the league’s summit.

Arsenal currently sits fourth, trailing the top team by nine points.

In addition, the team stands at 12th place in the new UEFA Champions League format, after four matches, with only the top eight qualifying for the automatic Round of 16.

Arteta faces significant challenges ahead, and former defender Bacary Sagna has voiced worries regarding their recovery capabilities.

“Arsenal’s position is more concerning compared to Liverpool or City, as they are in fourth and trailing by nine points,” Sagna remarked in an interview with Mega Dice.

“While they are still contenders, Arsenal must perform at an exceptional level moving forward. They cannot afford to lose any more points. Falling nine points behind Liverpool after 11 matches is disheartening. Despite City being second, I believe they are still the favorites.”

Sagna’s emphasis on the urgent need for Arsenal to secure winning streaks will likely resonate with Arteta as they prepare to face Nottingham Forest on November 23.

After this matchup, Arsenal has nine additional fixtures before the conclusion of 2024, comprising six in the EPL.
