Concerns Rise After Hospitalizations Linked to Unapproved Medical Outreach in Abiriba
A large number of individuals have been hospitalized following a free medical initiative in Abiriba, located within the Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State.
The Health Commissioner for the state, Ogbonnaya Uche, provided confirmation of this situation through an official statement released in Umuahia.
The hospital admissions are believed to be linked to adverse reactions to medications distributed during the outreach. Uche reassured the public that healthcare professionals are actively working to treat and stabilize those affected.
“The ministry expresses serious concern regarding the outcomes of unapproved medical outreach programs. Residents are advised to be cautious about these unauthorized healthcare activities,” stated the commissioner.
The announcement highlighted that the organizers did not acquire the required permissions from the ministry before conducting the event.
Additionally, the ministry reiterated its stance against unauthorized medical activities in Abia State, indicating that such events will face legal action to deter future incidents.
In light of these events, the Abia State Ministry of Health has initiated a probe into the matter.
