Vietnam officially launched its 2024 International Defense Exhibition on December 19 at Gia Lam Airport, led by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Defense Minister General Phan Van Giang.
This event marks two significant anniversaries: the 80th anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army and the 35th anniversary of All-People’s National Defense Day.
During his opening address, PM Chinh reaffirmed Vietnam’s commitment to peace, independence, and collaboration with the international community.
He stated, “Vietnam aims to establish a revolutionary, regular, elite, and modern military that can promptly and effectively defend itself, safeguarding the nation’s interests.”
PM Chinh also reiterated Vietnam’s “4 no’s” defense policy:
No military alliances.
No collaboration with one nation against another.
No foreign military bases or usage of its territory for external conflicts.
No threat or use of force in international scenarios.
He stressed Vietnam’s intent to enhance defense relationships, tackle global security issues, and promote peace and cooperation within the framework of international law.
The country is aiming to foster a self-sufficient defense industry, integrating advanced technologies to boost military strength while also benefiting the economy.
PM Chinh, along with other officials, explored the exhibition, which showcases over 240 defense companies from 49 nations. The displayed products include state-of-the-art weaponry and advanced defense systems, reflecting Vietnam’s position as a center for global defense collaboration.
The opening ceremony featured stunning displays by Su-30MK2 fighter jets and Mi helicopters, as well as martial arts performances by Special Forces and agility showcases by Border Guard dogs, demonstrating the skill and modernization of Vietnam’s military forces.
