Desiigner has announced that he will be putting his career on hold while he gets help for his mental health. The 25-year-old rapper, whose real name is Sidney Selby, says he had a bad reaction to a new medication while on a flight back home from Thailand and Tokyo, leading him to act out. He has since admitted himself into a facility to receive help and is canceling all of his upcoming engagements.
Insiders told TMZ that despite allegedly exposing himself to a flight attendant, the rapper will not be facing any criminal charges. This is the second time Desiigner has evaded jail time, as in 2016 he was arrested in New York for misdemeanor drug and menacing charges, yet they were dropped just three months later.
Desiigner has urged his fans to take care of their mental health, saying “Mental health is real guys, please pray for me. If your [sic] not feeling like yourself please get help.”
