BUZZ: Ruby Franke briefly placed under medical observation in jail after child abuse charges

arrested on felony child abuse charges, was briefly placed in the medical block at a Utah county jail due to an unknown health issue.

According to Washington County jail records obtained by People Monday, Franke was transferred to the medical block Friday before returning to the usual holding block after the weekend.

It’s unclear why the mother of six needed medical attention.

Page Six reached out the Franke’s attorney for comment, but did not immediately hear back.

Franke is being held behind bars with her business partner Jodi Hildebrandt, who also reportedly suffered an unspecified medical emergency this past weekend.

Following their Aug. 30 arrest, Franke and Hildebrandt appeared in court Friday where the judge ruled that the two be held without bail.

A review hearing for their bonds was scheduled for Sept. 21, however Hildebrandt’s lawyer filed a motion for an expedited detention hearing to discuss her potential option to be released on bail, citing health issues.

“Defendant has experienced a life-threatening medical issue resulting in her hospitalization for several days,” the motion, obtained by KUTV, stated.

Ruby Franke was a “momfluencer” who had one of YouTube’s biggest channels, “8 Passengers,” which documented her and her husband, Kevin, and their six kids.

Franke was arrested on Aug. 30, 2023, on two counts of aggravated child abuse and could face up to 15 years in prison if convicted.

Franke’s arrest came after an emaciated child with duct tape around their extremities escaped and ran to a neighbor’s house for help.

Franke’s sisters released a joint statement saying they did everything they could to protect their nieces and nephews “behind the public scene” and that the arrest “needed to happen.”

Through a lawyer, Franke’s husband denied having any part in the abuse.

Franke in court accused one of her own children of sexually abusing a sibling for years.

YouTube has deleted Franke’s account and banned her from the platform.

Hildebrandt’s attorney also requested that her Sept. 14 meeting with the judge to discuss her detention take place in a “special setting.”

The two colleagues were taken in by Santa Clara Police last month after one of Franke’s children escaped from Hildebrandt’s home — reportedly climbing through a window — and ran to a neighboring house asking for food and water.

“This kid has obviously been . . . he’s been detained. He’s obviously covered in wounds,” the neighbor told dispatchers.

“He says what happened to him was his fault.”

Franke and Hildebrandt were originally charged with two counts of aggravated child abuse, but four additional counts of child abuse were added a week later.

Franke shares four minor children with husband Kevin Franke: Abby, 16, Julie, 14, Russell, 12, and Eve, 9. The couple also share Shari, 20, and Chad, 18.

Following his wife’s arrest, Kevin claimed he had no involvement in the alleged child abuse.

“He’s a very gentle guy, and no one’s ever made any allegations that he’s ever physically abused those kids or anyone else,” his lawyer, Randy S. Kester, said on “Good Morning America” last week.
