BUZZ: Secret Meatpacking District nightclub Hearsay to debut for NYFW

Richie Romero and Rob Toma, founder of Brooklyn’s Teksupport, to open their first U.S. nightclub.

Meatpacking District spot Hearsay will make its big debut over the Labor Day weekend, just in time for this month’s NYFW. But the address is being kept under wraps, we’re told.

They hope to build buzz around the club through word-of-mouth. And with former Meatpacking hot spots like 1Oak, Provocateur, Cielo and Lotus all now defunct, Romero says, “I believe Matteo and Alessandro have that distinct passion for curating the right parties in the right circles to give the now sleepy Meatpacking District the wake up call it deserves.”

EMRG Media will be in charge of private events at the club and we’re told Hearsay will debut with “a series of invite-only DJ sets”over Labor Day weekend, plus “private… events during Fashion Week.”

“The new club, which has a state-of-the-art sound and lighting system will bring the world’s best [DJs in] house and techno back to the Big Apple on any given night.  Guests won’t know who’s playing at Hearsay till they get past the door,” co-owner Toma said.

Romero looks forward to reviving the flagging hood which, he says, “became the nightlife district for over two decades.”

“Now, the streets are quiet, and there’s really not much nightlife, and we’re here to change that. There’s now a juicy rumor floating in the air, ’til then, it’s just ‘Hearsay,’” he quipped.

We’re told VIPS will be picked up in a Sprinter and taken to the secret location for the club’s opening.
