Kim Kardashian seems to have a new companion, and it’s generating a buzz. Some might find it amusing to refer to him as a toy, especially considering his price tag of around $30,000. On November 18, 2024, she shared a video on X (formerly Twitter), showcasing her surprise at the capabilities of a Tesla Gen 2 humanoid robot, known as Optimus. In the video, she engages with the robot, asking, “Can you do this? ‘I love you?’ You know how to do that? Okay!” while doing heart gestures.
According to People, Kardashian also featured in another clip on her Instagram Story where she played rock, paper, scissors with the robot, winning the game. The robot charmed her as it pretended to blow a kiss.

Kardashian’s caption for her X post, “Meet my new friend,” included a tag for Tesla, hinting at a promotional angle for the company, which is venturing into robotics.
Beyond Friendship?
Kardashian’s interactions with the Tesla robots continued to captivate her audience. On November 19, she shared a series of photos featuring herself with a gold Optimus robot and a Tesla Cybercab, still unreleased to the public. One particular image captures the two holding hands.
Dressed in a revealing outfit including a black puffy jacket, SKIMS underwear, nude Balenciaga leggings, and stylish stockings, Kardashian showcased a bold look for this shoot. Tesla’s official account humorously commented, mentioning that “Optimus asked if you’re still on for dinner this Friday.” Responses varied, with some making light-hearted jests and others commenting on the political affiliations connected to Tesla’s CEO Elon Musk.
This playful exchange hints at Kardashian’s past relationships following her divorce from Kanye West in 2021, a brief link with Pete Davidson, and her latest rumored connection with Odell Beckham Jr., which reportedly ended in April 2024.
Understanding Optimus
Scheduled to start production in 2026, the Optimus robot is expected to cost between $20,000 and $30,000, not exactly within reach for everyone amid today’s economic conditions. So, what can this robot actually do? According to Musk at Tesla’s “We Robot” event, it will essentially serve multiple functions: from being a helper at home to performing tasks like teaching, babysitting, walking dogs, and more.
While its official release is still pending, early demonstrations suggest significant potential, like its ability to handle delicate objects such as eggs without breaking them.

However, whether people will trust it with an infant or simply prefer to see it make breakfast first remains to be seen. Perhaps we’ll discover how integrated the Optimus could become in day-to-day life, with Kardashian possibly turning it into her personal photography assistant.
