Artem Chigvintsev will not be prosecuted following his recent arrest for alleged felony domestic violence. The Napa County District Attorney’s Office has stated that after reviewing the case, they have chosen not to pursue any criminal charges.
District Attorney Allison Haley shared that after examining the evidence, there was insufficient ground to bring charges against Chigvintsev at this moment. However, the possibility of reopening the case if new evidence surfaces remains.
“Mr. Chigvintsev has consistently asserted his innocence,” commented his lawyer Dmitry Gorin to TMZ.
“He appreciates that the district attorney recognized the circumstances and determined that he should not face charges.”
“He has strong support from his community and asks for privacy as he navigates his ongoing divorce. He is committed to his son’s well-being and is optimistic about the future as both a professional and a father.”
Details of the Alleged Incident
Chigvintsev was arrested on August 29 and subsequently released on a $25,000 bond. The allegations involved claims of injury toward a spouse or partner. Although the victim has not been officially identified, Chigvintsev was married to former WWE star Nikki Bella, with whom he has a four-year-old son. At the time of his arrest, they were living together in Napa.
Since the incident, Bella has initiated divorce proceedings, taken off her wedding ring, and the couple is reportedly engaged in legal conflicts over child custody and spousal support.
