In 2022, Bengals kicker Evan McPherson and long snapper Clark Harris gained attention for being on the field during the halftime show that featured Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, 50 Cent, Mary J. Blige, and Lamar.
The Bengals lost that game 23-20, and special teams coordinator Darrin Simmons was quite displeased with their actions.
This time, players from both the Chiefs and Eagles have shown a strong commitment to focusing on the game rather than the halftime festivities.
Players Prioritize the Game Over Halftime Performance
“I don’t think my coaches would approve,” said Eagles punter Braden Mann when asked about the halftime show.
“I’ll be in the locker room during that time.”
Eagles cornerback Kelee Ringo shared a similar sentiment regarding the previous year’s incident.
“I can’t even fathom that,” he remarked. “That just doesn’t sit right with me.”
Meanwhile, Chiefs quarterback Mahomes expressed his admiration for Lamar’s latest album, while Travis Kelce found it difficult to pick a favorite track.
Lamar recently won five Grammys, and his diss track about Drake continues to gain traction.
Nonetheless, Eagles defensive end Thomas Booker IV emphasized that their primary objective remains winning the Super Bowl.
“I’m a long-time fan of Kendrick’s music and SZA as well,” he stated. “But our focus is solely on leaving with a victory.”
