Recently, well-known actors Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson fell victim to a string of high-profile burglaries happening in Southern California.
Break-in at Tom Hanks’ Pacific Palisades Property
Authorities confirmed that the couple’s Los Angeles home was robbed a few weeks ago by suspected members of organized burglary groups targeting affluent neighborhoods.
The incident occurred during the day while Hanks and Wilson were away. The burglars accessed a guest house on the premises but did not enter the main residence. Despite the alarm being triggered by a broken window, it did not deter the intruders who proceeded with the burglary. Fortunately, the main house was left untouched as no one was present at the time.
The items stolen, if any, remain unknown, and no arrests have been made. Authorities believe the burglary was a part of a series of break-ins in the area and not a targeted attack on Hanks and Wilson specifically. Similar incidents have been reported in the San Fernando Valley in recent weeks.
Impact of Southern California Burglaries on Hollywood
The break-in at Hanks and Wilson’s residence is part of a concerning trend affecting numerous celebrities. Stars like Bhad Bhabie, Sarah Hyland, and Marlon Wayans have also faced similar situations recently. In April, Kyle Richards’ daughter, Farrah Aldjufrie, experienced a burglary with resemblances to this incident.
Despite owning properties in Malibu, California, Sun Valley, Idaho, and Greece, Hanks and Wilson primarily live in their Pacific Palisades mansion, bought for $26 million in 2010. The expansive 14,513-square-foot property, constructed in 1996, boasts luxurious amenities like a wine cellar, a cliffside swimming pool, and spacious balconies with stunning views.
