Christina Applegate’s Struggles and Tragedies

Christina Applegate, star of Netflix dramedy “Dead To Me,” recently revealed that she had undergone a double mastectomy a decade ago. In the fourth episode of the show, her character Jen tells Linda Cardellini’s Judy that she had the same procedure after losing her mom to breast cancer. Applegate admitted that she still thinks about the experience every day, but believes that by bringing the subject out into the open, she can help those in a similar position feel less alone. In a Vulture interview, she noted that while the procedure still has its detractors, she hoped to shine a light on the emotionally complicated process. Applegate also stated in a USA Today chat that she thought this was her chance to tell a little bit about herself and all the women who have gone through the same thing.
