The Bonfyre is burning up.
But her success didn’t come overnight. The Atlanta-based songstress has been perfecting her craft for years. Under Raphael Saadiq’s mentorship, she dropped her debut EP Ready to Love in 2018 and earned a spot on 2019’s “Sketchbook Tour” with Fantasia, Tank, and Robin Thicke. After uploading a cover of Lauryn Hill’s “The Sweetest Thing” to SoundCloud, L.A. Reid came calling and signed her as the first female R&B artist to his Hitco label.
Armed with an iHeartRadio Music Award nomination for Best New R&B Artist, The Bonfyre continues to make waves with her 6-track EP Love, Lust & Let Downs, which chronicles the good, bad, and in-between of romantic relationships. Chapter One is out now featuring collaborations with Wale, Marc E. Bassy, and 6LACK, who guests on “U Say,” which hit No 1 on the Adult R&B Songs Chart in February.
“People would always ask me what I wanted my music to sound like,” The Bonfyre tells Rap-Up. “I would always describe it to them as a bonfire, because when you think about that feeling, it’s always a good time. It’s always good vibes, and it’s warm and inviting. Anybody is welcome, and I want my music to resonate that way to people.”
