Meet Huyen, a popular streamer boasting 17.8 million views and 600,000 followers on TikTok. Her engaging content about gaming and relationship advice captivates a vast audience.
Huyen’s remarkable journey includes battling cancer twice and purchasing her own home in Hanoi, drawing significant public attention. Her inspiring spirit and cheerful demeanor have made her widely admired.
At the tender age of 11, Huyen was diagnosed with primary bone cancer, leading to surgery that removed a large part of her left leg and subsequent chemotherapy. Despite this challenge, she persevered with her education and later moved to Hanoi to study graphic design in 2017.
In the years that followed, Huyen dedicated herself to hard work, beginning her career at a design firm before transitioning into game streaming, often putting in marathon workdays of up to 20 hours.
Her appealing personality and captivating communication skills have propelled her to fame on social media, resulting in numerous brand partnerships and a notable increase in earnings.
In 2021, Huyen achieved a milestone by purchasing her first home in Hanoi from a friend.
However, in 2023, just as her life seemed stable, she faced another health crisis with a diagnosis of lung cancer, prompting a tough battle for her life once again.
“I started treatment from April to June 2023, but felt hopeless when my condition worsened. I was hospitalized again in January 2024, where I’ve remained,” she shared with her followers.
“I’m currently on medication to prevent a relapse and am looking forward to being discharged soon,” Huyen updated her fans with positive news.
Aside from her health struggles, Huyen is also known for her intriguing personal love story.
In a recent video, she announced, “I have a boyfriend! Surprising, right? A girl who has overcome cancer twice has found love! It’s hard to believe, especially since I’m often labeled a ‘love destroyer.'”
Her boyfriend, Tran Hai, 31, from Ha Tinh, first crossed paths with Huyen in 2017 while they were employed at the same corporation, where she was an intern and he worked in IT.
They met at a corporate celebration, where Hai was instantly taken by Huyen, although she did not notice him right away. Their connection deepened in March 2018 after Huyen left her job and Hai relocated abroad.
“He began messaging me for design projects and it wasn’t until the third time that he reminded me we had worked together. He later confessed he was smitten with me from our first encounter,” Huyen reminisced.
Throughout 2018-2019, Hai professed his love for Huyen nine times through texts and face-to-face conversations, often returning to Vietnam to see her.
To Hai, Huyen’s struggles with cancer and her leg amputation were inconsequential; he admired her strength.
“Initially, he was quite serious and shy, but later he became more relaxed and cheerful. Although he’s not very romantic, his love is genuine,” Huyen reflected.
“I was young and preferred more romantic gestures, so I initially didn’t respond to him,” she admitted.
When the Covid-19 pandemic struck in 2020, Hai couldn’t return to Vietnam, and Huyen was busy with her work, resulting in a gap in communication. Three years later, after returning to Vietnam for work, he reached out to her again, just as she faced her new health crisis.
Upon hearing about her illness, Hai devoted himself to her care. Throughout her treatment for lung cancer, he remained by her side, uplifting her spirits.
During her recovery at home, Hai whisked her away on trips to Moc Chau, Ha Giang, Da Lat, and Ho Chi Minh City, fulfilling her desires to explore.
He even left his full-time job to become a freelancer, enabling him to devote time to Huyen during her illness.
Whenever Huyen dealt with side effects from chemotherapy, such as hair loss and sensitive skin, Hai reassured her, saying, “Your hair will grow back after treatment, and your skin will heal. To me, you will always be beautiful.”
