Phan Dang Hoang is poised to make a mark at Milan Fashion Week 2025, set to be held at the prestigious Royal Palace of Milan in September, signifying a significant milestone in the designer’s journey.
His upcoming “Ceramics” collection, comprising 40 unique designs, draws inspiration from the silk paintings of Nguyen Phan Chanh and the rich legacy of traditional Vietnamese ceramic art. This collection offers a contemporary and imaginative portrayal of Vietnamese women from a bygone era.
Steering away from his usual sophisticated style, Hoang’s new collection embraces a more urban, cutting-edge aesthetic.
Expressing his enthusiasm, Hoang remarked, “My creations often reflect the essence of Vietnamese artists and various local materials like ceramics, culture, sculptures, and architecture. Each showcase represents an opportunity to make a distinct mark. Being part of one of the most prestigious fashion events globally, alongside iconic fashion houses with deep-rooted histories, is a lifelong aspiration of mine.”
In the lead-up to the event, Hoang has navigated the challenges of collaborating remotely with international teams and securing permissions for the show at esteemed historical sites.
He underscores his commitment to being acknowledged for his craftsmanship rather than relying on superficial tactics or connections, opting to progress through dedicated learning and professional endeavors.
“By announcing a fashion event in Italy, many individuals may be unfamiliar with my background or identity, thus evaluating solely based on the inventive caliber,” Hoang observed.
Born in 2000, Hoang completed his education at the Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti (NABA) in Milan, Italy. His breakthrough came in 2022 when he showcased his collection at the Afro Autumn/Winter Fashion Week, earning recognition in Vogue Italy.
In 2023, Hoang captivated audiences with his “Sculpture” collection during Milan Fashion Week, seizing the opportunity to present his collection briefly before the influential fashion maven Anna Wintour on three occasions.
In a significant highlight, Hoang was named in Forbes’ 30 Under 30 Asia list for The Arts in May, a testament to his impact as one of the most promising young artists in Asia.
