During high-level discussions in Beijing on August 19, Vietnamese Party General Secretary and President To Lam emphasized Vietnam’s commitment to the strategic cooperative partnership with China and highlighted the importance of strong bilateral relations.
To Lam outlined Vietnam’s foreign policy and expressed the country’s dedication to collaborating with China in building a shared future community with significant strategic implications.
Xi Jinping reaffirmed Vietnam’s importance in China’s diplomatic priorities and welcomed To Lam’s visit as a demonstration of the strong ties between the two nations.
Both leaders discussed the positive developments in their countries, emphasizing the importance of mutual trust, defense cooperation, economic ties, and resolving any disagreements in a constructive manner.
They agreed on the significance of enhancing political trust, promoting exchanges between leaders, and deepening cooperation in various sectors including security, defense, trade, investment, and infrastructure projects.
The leaders also discussed supporting each other in agriculture, enhancing people-to-people exchanges, and addressing regional and international issues together.
They reiterated the importance of respecting each other’s interests, resolving disputes peacefully, adhering to international laws, and working towards a mutually beneficial Code of Conduct in the East Sea.
Following the talks, several cooperation agreements were signed between Vietnam and China in various areas such as Party affairs, agriculture, healthcare, and trade.
To Lam and Xi Jinping emphasized the importance of strengthening the friendship between their countries and pledged to elevate Vietnam – China relations to new heights.
