Following complaints from the public and stakeholders regarding culturally insensitive material on social media, the Ministry has taken decisive action.
Between 2020 and 2022, the Ministry has imposed fines totaling 335 million VND on individuals and organizations in the performing arts sector for violations. Additionally, a directive has been issued to improve the management of audio and video content on the internet.
On June 28, 2024, a directive was issued to enhance oversight of online content, particularly focusing on its societal impact and values. This includes establishing a monitoring procedure to address the negative effects of non-compliance with artistic codes of conduct, with completion expected by September 2024.
Regarding inappropriate online content sharing, the Ministry will enforce measures and penalties according to the 2013 Constitution, the 2015 amended Penal Code, and relevant government decrees on internet management and penalties.
Furthermore, the Ministry will handle issues related to online content in the fields of performing arts, culture, and advertising, in accordance with Decree No. 38/2021/ND-CP, which covers administrative fines in these sectors.
Highlighting the importance of regulating online advertising, the Ministry is receptive to public feedback. Proposed amendments to the Advertising Law aim to establish clear guidelines for influencers and advertisers, ensuring adherence to legal standards concerning product quality and truthful advertising.
Well-known personalities such as Nam Em, Dam Vinh Hung, and Phuong Le have been fined this year for various infractions.
