The principal of Tan Tuc High School in Binh Chanh, Ho Chi Minh City has confirmed that local authorities are looking into reports of hidden cameras in the girls’ restroom.
On the evening of October 25, Nguyen Thanh Tong, the school’s principal, informed VietNamNet that they had alerted the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training about these troubling allegations.
Tong further stated that police are now investigating the claims and that the school will share accurate details once the inquiry concludes.
The situation emerged when multiple students at Tan Tuc High School came forward, revealing that thousands of videos and images—allegedly recorded in the girls’ restroom—were being sold and circulated on social media platforms.
A student disclosed that approximately three days ago, a group of peers encountered a social media account named H, which was thought to belong to another student, offering an extensive collection of sensitive videos and images for sale. This footage purportedly showed clear images of female students in their uniforms with visible name tags.
Upon realizing what was happening, the group promptly notified the school’s administration.
Students reported that around 13,000 videos and 15,000 images were allegedly traded and shared on dark web sites. They stated that hidden cameras were supposedly installed near the water spray nozzles in the restroom, capturing footage of students. Many claim to have evidence linking an individual to the crime, but the accused has denied these allegations when confronted.
One student expressed their concern over the matter: “It’s incredibly unfair because this impacts many female students at our school, including my young friends who are vulnerable. Being secretly filmed is a shocking violation. We hope the authorities will help us get justice,” they said, appealing for a swift resolution.
